1. Be Purpose Driven. To excel is more of an intentional adventure than anything else. The individual must decide to make a difference by doing things every other person ignores doing, by over exerting themselves beyond normal limits and by ensuring their work output is branded in a significantly different way from any other competitor. Any leader who is intentional about excellence does not work because of money, neither does she/he lack money.  Those who work and pursue money may never excel in life but a man of excellence inadvertently attracts money all the way.

  1. Have the passion to serve. In the workplace, passion to serve is a virtue that is in short supply. Passion is that uncommon individual drive that is deep seated in a person to do a common job in an uncommon way.
  2. Develop uncommon commitment and focus on job output. Some individuals love visibility and the fame that go with it, but they are unwilling to pay the price. People of excellence are focused and committed to a cause. To produce an excellent result will require many hours of hard work. The research and study that go into a 30 minutes presentation may take between ten to thirty hours of study, depending on the authors’ expertise.  Good things are worked or created; they don’t happen by luck or chance.

  1. Imbibe continuous training and practice. A saying goes that practice makes perfect. Excellence is a life of continuous practice and not a destination. Many workers are in a hurry to get to the top of their career but are unwilling to go with the habit that will sustain them at the top.  Life coaching relationship will be a strategy for an individual who want to excel. He must have a source where he draws inspiration from. Excellence begins to wane and die off when the individual no longer gets challenged.  To keep excelling, you must spread yourself thick with the masters. That is what this saying means. Learn to see how others have excelled and work assiduously hard to achieve yours.

  1. Embrace consistency as a trademark. Consistency is strength under threatening conditions. In the workplace, it is common to see employees who show spark and shine glowingly when given assignments. When a major task is assigned, these same individuals crumble. The difference is that they failed to be consistent. Excellence is not an event nor a milestone. It is a life-style. An individual who is consistently improving his deliverables is a treasure to their leader. A man’s test of consistency is not when everything is going on well. It is the ability to deliver quality service under adversity, without cutting corners or resorting to under counter transactions.
