Does your organisation encourage new thinking in solving old problems? When last was a new solution found for an existing challenge?
The executive leader has the responsibility of creating the discipline of new thinking and continuous improvement. The concept of old answers to old questions must be discontinued as it is not resourceful, and it clearly demonstrates that the leadership is not growing in knowledge.
To grow in knowledge is possible where continuous improvement schemes are the norm. It must be based on learning to do something differently and better, each time it is repeated. Executive leaders must promote and reward continuous improvement initiatives of team members through a culture of open praise, acknowledgement of achievements, and recognition of efforts and awards of excellence to challenge competitive spirit of enterprise.
