Leaders have come to realize that what makes them a success or not is not only dependent on how much they know about their area of endeavor but how well they relate with their team and deploy soft skills. It is the measure followers use in perceiving the intentions of the leader. People don’t follow a leader because of how much they know. They follow them based on how they can use what they know to significantly impact their lives. In doing this, the followers and team members keep studying the leader’s communication style, their demeanor, disposition, friendliness, interpersonal relationship, their respect of individual rights’ and privacy, etc. These help the individuals to perceive and cast the person of the leader in their own minds mold.
