Be Bold With Your Commitment.
When I talk to people who wants business or career advice, the first thing I ask them is what is their goal? It is important we identify the goal, no matter how mundane or nonsensical it is. Generally, you will find three groups of people, those who have no idea of what to do, those who have several ideas and are somewhat confused and those who have settled for a definite direction but are having difficulty on how to start.
As your read this article, do you have difficulties about what you are doing or what to do and do you fall into any of these groups? The first assignment if you are caught in this web of confusion is to take the individual through the basics of what constitutes the idea, how it aligns with their personal goals, strengths and opportunities in the environment to help the mentee reach a decision of concept acceptance.
For those who are already headed in a direction, my first question is usually how involved they are with their idea? By that I mean how much of their time does their idea consume in a day. I can tell you that you will not get the same response from different individuals. While some have a parking shelf where they store ideas and only visit when it is convenient, others are so enmeshed with theirs that they practically sleep and wake up with theirs. Here lies the crux of this discussion, bold and open commitment. The proof that your dream will succeed, or die is your commitment to it. A commitment to a dream makes an individual to devote his/her money, time, energy, intellect and social connections to make their dreams come true. Success follow leaders who are fully committed to a cause with unwavering faith.
If you are failing with your dream, check your commitment level. Your life moves in the direction of your commitment. Commitment and success go together. They are unbeatable team partners anywhere, any day. A leader must watch the commitment behaviours and atmosphere existing in their teams and must work hard to eliminate pollutions of all kind. Where there is bold commitment, team spirit is stronger, decisions are faster and results are enhanced. There will be great mood, celebration of achievements, high spirit, sense of belongingness and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the team.
