Discipline involves the use of personal character to perform a task to meet established expectation putting time, effort and other resources into a game plan. The purpose is to get exceptional results based on a decision to deny or sacrifice a lower goal or comfort in order to get something greater or better within a defined time-limit.

Execution leadership, also known as the discipline of getting promises and aspirations converted to tangible/visible results consists of systematic processes of planning and following through the plans to ensure its achievement. The ability to undertake the above and deliver it efficiently comes from self-discipline. Executives must master the art of self-discipline to execute optimally. Self-discipline manifests in the CEOs value for time, prioritization of activities, selection and gainful engagement of team members.
